Georgann Wachter has been diving around the world since the mid 1970ies visiting some 300 different shipwrecks. Wreck research and diving the Great Lakes is her passion. This has lead to five books co-authored with her husband Mike: Erie wrecks, Erie Wrecks East, Erie Wrecks West, Erie Wrecks East, Second Edition and Erie Wrecks & Lights. In addition she has published articles in several magazines and newspapers including Mid West Dive News, Advanced Diver Magazine, Quantum and Inland Seas. The Wachter’s knowledge of the lakes has been cited Skin Diver, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, and Cleveland Magazine.
Georgann was inducted into the international Women Divers Hall of Fame in 2013 for documenting over 250 Great Lakes shipwrecks with her writing, research and marine artwork.
Often with her husband Mike, Georgann has presented scores of programs to groups such as The Erie Maritime Museum, Erie, PA; New York Sea Grant, Oswego, NY; Goderich Marine Heritage Festival, Goderich, Ontario; Shipwrecks Welland, Ontario; The Great Lakes Historical Society, Vermilion, OH; Shipwrecks Remembered, Port Huron, MI and Ghost Ships Festival, Milwaukee, WI.
Georgann is the researcher and illustrator behind the Erie Wrecks books. Her marine art has been displayed at several shows and museums.
